What Information We Collect
We keep things extremely minimal. When you simply read articles, we don’t collect any personal information at all. If you choose to subscribe to our occasional newsletter, we only ask for your email address. If you write to us directly, we obviously receive whatever you decide to send (name, message, attachments). That’s literally it. No accounts, no logins, no profiles, no shopping cart.
Cookies and Analytics
We use a very lightweight, privacy-first analytics tool (Plausible) that does not set cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not store any personal identifiers. It only tells us basic things like which country most readers are in and which pages are popular, so we know what kind of content to write next. No advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, nothing that follows you around the internet.
Newsletter
When you sign up for updates, your email is stored securely with a reputable email service that is fully GDPR and CCPA compliant. We send letters rarely (usually once or twice a month) and you can unsubscribe with one click at the bottom of any email. We never sell, rent, or share your address with anyone else, ever.
Comments and Contact Forms
We don’t have public comments on the site. If you contact us through email or any future contact form, we keep the conversation only as long as needed to help you. After the matter is resolved, messages are deleted or anonymized.
Third Parties
The only outside services that ever see any data are our hosting provider, our analytics provider (Plausible), and our email delivery service. All are based in privacy-friendly jurisdictions and are contractually forbidden from using your data for anything else.
Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we ever discover that we have accidentally received such information, we delete it immediately.
Your Rights
You can ask to see whatever tiny amount of data we have about you (it will probably fit on one line), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it completely. Just send an email to
[email protected] and we’ll handle it within a few days. Residents of California, Colorado, Virginia, and other places with privacy laws have the same simple rights — no complicated forms required.
Security
All connections to the site are encrypted with HTTPS. Email addresses are stored hashed or encrypted at rest. We’re a small team, so there are no huge databases full of sensitive information to breach in the first place.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever decide to change how we handle data (unlikely, but life happens), we’ll update this page and change the Effective Date at the top. We’ll also mention the change in our next newsletter so subscribers aren’t surprised.
